Caribbean Digital Libraries Workshop 2007

The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hosted a workshop entitled “Caribbean Digital Libraries & Digital Repositories: Recent Initiatives and Future Developments” at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago, Port of Spain, Trinidad, from July 10-13, 2007.

The workshop was designed to raise the level of awareness within relevant institutions for the diverse issues associated with digitization projects. It also examined areas of possible cooperation in developing digital collections and provide a forum to discuss the development of a Caribbean Digital Library initiative and participation in the World Digital Library Project.

The target groups were librarians, archivists, media professionals and staff from cultural institutions and other organizations such as National Libraries, National Archives, Media Organizations, Museums, Government Ministries and Universities in the English and Dutch-speaking Caribbean.

We thank all presenters and delegates for their active participation in this collaborative venture.
