 | Title: Caravan Author: Berkeley, Wayne Description: Section in the band: Mirage. Mirage won Band of the Year in the 1994 carnival competition. Male costume consisting of a robe, head piece, shoulder piece and standard. The standard is the vacuum formed head and neck of a camel wearing a bridle with green and red tassels and a red and white saddle which ends in a purple and red fringed cape which flows down the pole. The head piece is an Arabic styled head cloth held in place with a red beaded gold diadem. The suit is two pieces: a red and purple tent hem striped tunic with a gold fringed hem and a djebellah in light and dark green stripes worn over it like a cape. The costume is completed by a edged black armour piece worn over the neck and finished with a tassel at the pointed end.
