 | Title: Desert Storm Author: Wayne Berkeley Description: Section in the band: Mirage. Mirage won Band of the Year in the 1994 carnival competition. Male costume consisting of a standard and suit, reminiscent of the American armed forces uniforms worn in the "Desert Storm" war against Iraq. The standard is a tri-pennant flag with white stars on a blue background, camouflage and red and white stripes. The suit consists of a khaki cap with an eagle image on the crown. The masquerader wears a sleeveless white t-shirt with a red edge around the neck and armholes and a wide red stripe on the chest. The trousers are in camouflage fabric worn under a black belt with a silver eagle impressed image on the buckle. The masquerader wears calf high black boots and white banded blue armbands. The costume is completed by the black sling across the torso which holds a black rifle carried on the back.
