Title: Jack of Diamond

Description: Section in the band: Heromyth.
Male costume consisting of a head piece, collar, suit and loincloth. The head piece is a gold diadem atop which is a large jack of diamonds playing card, with smaller diamond shapes in red outlined in white, in receding sizes extending upwards high above the masquerader's shoulders and head. The collar is red, black and white in diamond shapes with a gold border and from which are suspended gold strips of fabric falling from the collar, draped under the arms and to the back and a white diamond shaped cluster is attached to the centre front of the collar. The suit is a pair of baggy white trousers, reminiscent of an Indian dhoti, falling to the shins and held up by a gold belt over which hangs a gold banded white loincloth. The costume is finished with gold banded white arm and calf bands.

Jamette refers to a loose moralled woman in the Trinidad and Tobago jargon.
Female costume consisting of a dress. The dress is purple with a long gold fringe at the neck and hem. A gold headband, bracelets, earrings and shoes are worn by the masquerader.

Les Bijoux placed 2nd in the 1997 carnival competition.
Female costume consisting of a head piece, back piece, chestplate and suit. The head piece is a white face mask with entwined gold locks extending upwards .The back piece is circular in blue, gold and green and is also attached to the shoulder of the masquerader. The suit is a full length gown, the dominant colour of which is prussian blue with a green front insert. The breastplate is a green eye decorated with a large blue jewel in the centre as the iris, suspended from a gold choker.

Description: Section in the band: Strike Up the Band.
Strike Up the Band won Band of the Year in the 1993 carnival competition.
Strike Up the Band was inspired by George Gershwin's work of the same name.
Male costume consisting of a standard, head piece and suit. The head piece is a black flat-topped hat with a green ribbon and a green feather on the side. The suit is a black sleeveless tee shirt with the word "jazz" spelt out in white. There are white bands forming a tunic on the top and a white cummerbund; the trousers are green. The standard is a white fringed tall black flag imprinted with white faces and decorated with green ribbons. The costume is completed by the white cuffs worn as wristbands.

Description: Female costume consisting of a headband, sash and suit. The headband is a long, pink and white plaited band, knotted on the side and with a black and white medallion. The suit is a one piece, black bathing suit worn over a one legged, black and white striped legging. A pink feathery sash with a gold and green braid is worn across the body. The costume is completed by the armbands that have long pink feathers attached to gold bracelets and the black ballet slippers.

On the chest is a heart desigh with stars and moons in the middle. Around the neck and waist are strips of triangular shaped pieces of fabric with a bead to the end. A glove is on each hand a jester hat on the head.

Title: Jewel of Ceylon

Description: Sketches of costumes.
Male costume consisting of an elaborate body piece, head piece and suit. The head piece is a tall spiked helmet traditionally worn by temple dancers. The suit consists of a chest plate of medallions worn like armour over the shoulders. The trousers have two layers of puffed legs, fastened at the upper thigh and ending at the knee in a tasseled ribbon. An ornate belt studded with jewels and with an attached loincloth is worn. The body piece is a large series of seven circular wheels made of cones interspersed with long spear like pieces with feathers, shells and shields, enhanced with tassels. Large feather shaped objects project on either side of the hip to the ground.

There is jewelry hard shimmering pieces that blends to form a pattern that looks encrusted and in some shape or form, looks spiky and almost metallic. There are beads hanging over one shoulder with tussels to the end. The head piece resembles a crown. There is also a large circular design to the top of the head.

Female costume consisting of a head piece, back piece, shoulder piece, train and suit. The head piece is a blue hummingbird's head with a jewelled crown and the beak projecting over the masquerader's face. The back piece consists of a two level, gold filigree piece of jewelry with pink, blue and gold studded jewels. The shoulder piece consists of three pairs of irridescent wings in white, blue and and gold attached to a neck piece of blue bird feathers, one pair of which projects high into the air. The suit is a sequinned, one piece bathing suit with pants of white, fringed and beaded. The train is pink, gold and lilac tiers of fabric and flowers. The costume is completed by the thigh high brown boots.

Strike up the Band was inspired by George Gershwin's work of the same name.
Male costume consisting of a standard, head piece and suit. The standard is a blue pole topped with a gold crescent and a perforated cone; it is completed with four blue ribbons suspended from small gold bells. The head piece is a gold helmet with blue feathers grouped on the crown. The suit consists of a gold jacket, open along the sides, a white bib front with blue buttons and gold tabs; there are gold and blue epaulettes with gold fringe. A white belt with blue inserts is worn over gold baggy trousers tucked into silver knee high boots. The costume is completed by gold banded silver wristbands.

Description: Female costume. Dominant colours are pink, grey, yellow, green and blue. The costume has a pink bikini top with beads going across the belly. There is a multicoloured design attached to the bottom of the bikini top. Falling from the waist are grey drapes. In one hand is a tambourine with colourful streamers falling from it. In the hair is a flower with colourful streamers falling from it also.
