Male costume consisting of a head piece and suit. The head piece is an eight point star in pink, white, orange and black on a circular background attached to a white pole. The suit consists of a black vest, baggy checkered trousers in yellow and black and pink and black separated by a broad black stripe. The costume is completed by pink and yellow puffed armbands.

Title: Kamen

Description: Section in the band: Origami.
Male costume consisting of a head piece and suit. The head piece is a gold lion's head on a silver helmet that has gold wings on either side. The suit is a short black robe, cold-shouldered and with a wide gold, black and white border, the robe is cinched at the waist by a black and gold belt. The costume is completed by the gold, black and white stockings worn with white sandals and the armbands, one of which is black and gold and the other black with a long fabric sleeve patterned in a gold and black floral, white fringed and with a gold and black striped border.

Title: Keeper of the Giraffe

Description: Section in the band: Trapeze.
Male costume consisting of standard, hand piece, head piece, chestplate, loincloth and cape. The standard is a striped gold and blue pole. The hand piece is the head and neck of a giraffe. The head piece is a silvery turban with a long side frill, topped by a gold coronet and then long, narrow blue feathers on the crown, reminiscent of a Moorish turban. The gold chestplate is divided into two parts: a triangular piece over the chest and abdomen with blue circles inside, a long gold tassel at the triangle peak and then three wide rib-like bars attached to the triangle and fastening behind the back. The suit is a pair of blue bathing trunks over which is worn a silvery loincloth that is attached to both of the masquerader's ankles forming baggy trousers. A short giraffe patterned cape appears to be attached to one armband, the pair of which are in bands of blue, gold and silver; similarly the legbands.

Title: Keeper of the Royal Garden

Description: Section in the band: Amarant, the Secret Garden.
Amarant won Band of the Year in the 1998 carnival competition.
Amarant is the name of a flower reputed to have grown in a secret maze in the legendary city of Atlantis; made up of two dormant butterflies in the form of a flower, only lovers who touch the flower can bring the butterflies to life.
Male costume consisting of a standard, head piece, chestplate, cape, loincloth and suit. The standard is a black flag with an image of a butterfly with orange, yellow and pink wings. The head piece is a gold helmet fashioned like a butterfly's head with large red feathers on the crown. The chestplate is gold with insets of pink and orange like the underside torso of a butterfly. The loincloth is yellow, hanging from an orange, white and gold belt. The cape is black with blocks of yellow and orange colours in increasing size, resembling the patterns of a butterfly's wings. The costume is completed by the yellow armbands and the gold greaves on the shins.

Title: Keeper of the White Swan

Description: Female costume consisting of a standard, head piece, sash, train and suit. The head piece is a tight white helmet with a white feather at the side and a side scarf with a fringed hem. The standard is a white pole topped with a white fringe and a large white swan. The suit is a white bikini, the top of which is strapless. A white fringed sash with gold edges is worn across the body. The train is short, white and double tiered, attached to one hip rather than the seat of the suit. The costume is completed by the flared white armbands and the knee high boots.

Strike Up the Band won Band of the Year in the 1993 carnival competition.
Strike Up the Band was inspired by George Gershwin's work of the same name.
Female costume consisting of a head piece and suit. The head piece is in two parts, both attached to a gold and white diadem: black and white piano keys projecting out of one side and a black, red and white jewelled keyboard with gold spikes which droops over the other ear. The suit is a simple two piece black and white skirt and off-the-shoulder blouse. The costume is completed by black and white armbands.

Title: Khatakali Moon Dancer

Description: Sketches of costumes.
Female costume consisting of a head piece, waist piece and suit. The head piece is a jewelled crescent moon on a helmet, decorated with beads, stars and feathers on the edge of the crescent. The waist piece is a transparent skirt on a frame around the waist, decorated with beaded suns, moons and hemmed with fluffy clouds. The suit is a patterned, one shouldered catsuit with a short stole on one shoulder, beaded with jewels. The costume is completed with the beaded shinbands, upper armbands and wristbands, to which are attached strings of pearls.

The head piece is a red perforated helmet with three small cubes. The suit is a short black kimono with a red and white floral pattern on the robe, black sleeves with a red, white and black striped border and a red belt. The costume is completed by the banded shinbands in the same colours as the sleeve border and the white shoes.

Title: Kilimanjaro

Mirage won Band of the Year in the 1994 carnival competition.
Male costume consisting of a head piece, standard, neckpiece and djebellah. The standard is a black and white African mask the crown of which has small green and white feathers topped by a tall black and silver coronet; the fabric which falls from the standard and is attached to one wrist of the masquerader is in a camouflage pattern of blue, green, yellow and white. The head piece is a tall silver crown of narrow spikes the base of which has small round beads and from which hangs a long djebellah in the camouflage fabric. The neckpiece is a wide collar of bi-level triangles in blue, green, yellow and black edged in white, the neck of which has a white background with small black dots. The armbands are broadly striped in blue, green and black, as are the calfbands. The suit is a pair of black bathing trunks over which is worn a triangular loincloth in blue and white.

Male costume consisting of a knight's armour, sword, cape and suit. The armour includes a helmet with large red plumes and a black and silver chessboard shield. The sword is a broadsword. The cape is red. The front of the armour has a silver impression of a horse's head and bridle with a red tassel hanging off its mane which is plaited with red ribbons. The suit appears to be a red catsuit. The costume is completed by the red tights worn under a pair of silver greaves that have inbuilt shoes.

Description: Female costume consisting of a back piece and suit. The back piece is a wide yellow and black sunburst with three sailing ships in yellow, green and blue in front of that. The suit is a green bikini top with a flared skirt in a blue and purple tied dyed pattern and a ruffled yellow / green hem. There is a large purple bow worn behind the skirt, like an obi. The costume is completed by the gold, blue, purple and green armbands and the flowers and pearls worn in the hair.

The back piece is a tall, pleated white fan worn high on the shoulders. The shoulder piece consists of two green peacock feathers on a white background. The loincloth is similarly patterned. The masquerader wears a white tassel on a white cord around the neck. The costume is completed by the knee high white boots and the pearl fringed white armbands.
