Title: Sagittarius

All That Jazz placed 3rd in the 1978 Band of the Year carnival competition.
Male costume consisting of a standard, head piece, back piece, cape, sash and suit. The standard is a large archer's bow. The head piece is a helmet, framing the face and with large feathers attached to the crown like a centurion's. The cape is white with a black border and lined in gold. The back piece is a large archery target with a large black and white wing on one side. The suit is a white, sleeveless catsuit. The masquerader wears a necklace with a medallion in the centre and bead strings draping around the back. The sash and belt both have a curlique pattern and edged in black; a quiver with arrows is attached to the sash which has a fringed edge; a large medallion in a sunburst pattern holds the sash in place. The costume is completed by the peaked front white boots and wristbands.

Male costume consisting of a mantle, head piece and standard. The standard is a black and gold striped flag attached to a blue and white striped pole. The mantle worn by the masquerader is gold, falling to the ankles with a black and gold striped wide collar in the back and with a pattern of a sun around the neck. The head piece is a gold helmet with a plait in purple and gold at the base and the top of which has straight gold feathers protuding. The base of the feathers is ringed in purple and gold coins on the crown. Gold armbands complete the costume.

The masquerader wears a white sailor hat. The collar is a white sailor's with a wide red border and a long purple tie. The suit is a pair of red bathing trunks with a white belt. The costume is completed by flared white upper armbands and shinbands.

The costume is a version of the Fancy Sailor of traditional mas in Trinidad and Tobago.
Male costume consisting of a head piece, sash and suit. The head piece is a large white helmet, studded with jewels and curves and with two attached cords that allow the masquerader to stabilize it. The jacket is a long-sleeved white sailor style top with a black edged collar and sleeves and a red tie. The sash is black with a gold tassel at the end. The belt is gold while the trousers are red and white striped. The costume is completed by the black shoes.

One costume has a red top with a triangular neck piece that forms into a square to the back. It resembles a sailors neck piece. There is a white short pants with a yellow stripe running down the legs. At the calves is a band with fabric flowing from it representing the bottom of a sailor's pants. On the head is a yellow head tie with a striped sailors hat. White feathers are projecting out of the hat.
Female costume. Dominant colours are yellow, black, blue, orange and red. The costume has a black short pants with a yellow top. There is a neck piece that falls like a V and is attached to the pants of the costume. On the head is a yellow head tie with a striped sailor hat on top. To the back there is a large triangular sail with a small flag to the top. Hanging from the sail are beads.

Berkeley: Cirque des Follies is a great mixture of costumes and situations, taken from the Follies Bergere and influenced by the 'Cirque du Soleil'. All the costumes are pure fantasy, and do not relate to any given place or time. It is more like a spectacle, a show of costumes, and in some way relates to jewelry.
Female costume consisting of a standard, head piece, neckpiece and suit. The standard is a blue and white striped pole with a crescent shaped fan of blue and white jewels and large white feathers. The head piece is a wide helmet with blue and white jewels, a large blue stone on the forehead, silver beaded fringe at each ear with blue feather boas and topped with large white feathers on the crown. The neckpiece is a choker of strings of silver beads attached to the blue jewelled lower armbands. The suit is a blue and white one piece bathing suit embellished with a silver sequinned front insert and ending in a blue jewelled belt with silver fringe. The costume is finished with a blue jewelled calf band and silver studded upper armbands.

Female costume consisting of a head piece, cape and arm and shoulder piece. The head piece is a pink and silver crown of diamond shapes and strings of beads interspersed between. The suit is a pink and silver sequinned bikini, the top of which has a high collar. A silver mesh satellite dish is carried on one shoulder, with pink beads at each intersecion. A silver cape is worn on one shoulder, with a brush pattern and a silver and pink beaded exterior. Long strings of silver beads are draped across the torso and down the sides. The costume is completed by the elbow length white gloves and the white, knee high roman style shoes.

The back piece is also round, made of concentric circles in pink and yellow and with a large scorpion in the middle. The cape is white with a hem patterned with a pink stripe and triangles. The suit is a gold and pink bodysuit with short sleeves, one puffed and the other fringed, with a star shaped pattern near the groin. A neck piece of spikes is worn over the suit. A pink catsuit is worn under the suit. A rope is draped over the chest and hips and worn as a sash. The costume is completed by the patterned tights and white shoes.

Amarant is the name of a flower reputed to have grown in a secret maze in the legendary city of Atlantis; made up of two dormant butterflies in the form of a flower, only lovers who touch the flower can bring the butterflies to life.
Female costume consisting of a standard, head piece, train and suit. The standard is a black flag with the image of a pink, gold and green sea horse with yellow and blue waves. The head piece is also a sea horse helmet with a long gold braid hanging down the back. The suit is a one piece bathing suit with pink and green bands. The frilled train is made of an irridescent green and yellow fabric, attached to the seat of the suit. The costume is completed by the green, pink and black armbands and the embossed gold greaves on the legs.

Female costume consisting of a head piece, fan and suit. The head piece is elaborate, fan-shaped and icy-blue in colour attached to a silver helmet which is decorated in circular and curly forms that fall around the masquerader's face. It represents ice floes. The fan that the masquerader carries is the same style as the head piece. A silver necklace in the same pattern as the helmet is worn, shaped like an inverted triangle. The suit is an icy-blue one piece bathing suit, to which a short white train in a triangular shape is attached to one hip. Blue armbands with silver patterns complete the costume.

Title: Sea Nymph

Female costume consisting of a head piece, back piece, cape and suit. The head piece is a gold and yellow beaded sea fan interspersed with orange and gold coral twigs attached to an orange helmet with a starfish and blue pearls. The back piece is a large irridescent sea fan. The suit is a bikini with a scaled pattern on the bra with a pearl tunic worn over it and a shell on the pants from which hang strings of pearls that fall from the end of the shell, around the body to the wrists. The cape is rainbow striped, draping over one arm in a soft fabric but transforming to a purple, blue and yellow wing on the other arm, beaded and jewelled. The costume is completed by the elbow length white gloves and the gold knee high peaked top boots with jewels and pearls worn over the latter.

Description: Female costume consisting of a head piece, loincloth and suit. The head piece is an irridescent lilac helmet with a large sea fan, sea weed and pearls. The suit is a green bikini, the bra and bottom of which are joined with a triangular piece covering the torso. The loincloth is made up a strings of pearls, falling from the waist of the pants. Purple tights are worn under the pants. The arm and shinbands are banded in orange, pink, green and yellow. One armband has an orange and yellow wing attached, beaded with white pearls.

The standard is a gold rectangle with a pink triangle in the middle and pink border; there are two long gold tassels on cords hanging from the base of the flag on the pink pole. The head piece is shaped like a tri-level gold temple, pink-bordered and with a tall spike on the crown; there are bunches of gold grapes hanging on either side of the head. The collar is purple with a black sunburst pattern on a gold background. The suit is a pair of gold bathing trunks worn under a gold belt with a gold, pink and white triangular pattern. The sash is gold, lined in pink, worn across the body and tied behind the back. The half train is made of layered ruffles in purple and red as is one upper arm band. The other arm band is red and purple striped as well as one leg band. The costume is completed by the single red wrist band.

Female costume consisting of a head piece, hand piece and suit. The hand piece is a rope with metallic threads carried by the masquerader. The head piece is a silver metal triangle attached to a beaded helmet with a twirled metallic wire on the crown. The suit is a collar white with a silver strip in the middle and green and white fringe of varying sizes; a metallic silver skirt is worn under the neck piece. The costume is completed by the ringed metallic thighbands and the silver shin and armbands with wings.

Title: Silver and Turquoise

Les Bijoux placed 2nd in the 1997 carnival competition.
Male costume consisting of a standard, back piece, head piece anad breastplate. The back piece consists of silver and turquoise studded wings which extend from the shoulders of the masquerader similar to eagles' wings. Similar wings are attached to one of masquerader's blue calfbands. The wings are designed to look like an American Indian design of a brooch. A head piece is a helmet which is part wing and part spiral shell shaped. The armbands are blue and the standard is a basic white pole. The breastplate consists of two large blue jewels suspended from a necklace and the suit consists of blue bathing trunks.

Description: Male costume consisting of a head piece, shield, stole, loincloth and suit. The head piece is a black and white patterned diadem with a silver chain hanging down one side with a blue fluffy feather on the end, a mass of yellow and blue feathers are attached to the back. The stole is made of small feathered balls in blue, purple and yellow attached to two long cords, draped over one shoulder. The loincloth is blue, decorated with purple, yellow and black circles, falling from a purple belt. The suit is a pair of black bathing trunks. The shield is feathered, in purple, yellow and blue, with a black and white centre, carried on one arm. The costume is completed by the purple and white arm and shinbands, decorated with blue pompoms and the moccasins.

Female costume consisting of a head piece, back piece and suit. The back piece is a large silver snowflake beaded with sequins and long silver feather boas hanging down the back. The head piece is a silver helmet ending in a peak on the forehead, with three snowflakes in receding sizes on the crown and silver feather boas hanging down the sides and back. The suit is a silver sequinned bikini adorned with small snowflakes and fringed on both pieces. The costume is completed by the arm length white gloves over which are worn silver wrist and armbands attached to silver strings of beads which loop to the waist and bra of the suit. The shinbands are silver snowflakes.

The head piece is a gold helmet in the shape of a bird's head, with pink eyes and the beak of which extends over the forehead. The back piece is a large tail in pink and purple feathers. The suit is a one piece gold bathing suit with a high neck, beaded on the top and with an embossed pattern on the pants. The costume is completed by the gold shinbands.

The head piece is a silver helmet with a crown topped with large silver feathers. The shawl is a silvery icicle patterned piece falling over the shoulders. A similarly styled collar is worn. The suit is a pair of trunks worn under an icicle patterned loincloth. The costume is completed by the silver and blue calf and armbands, the latter of which have a silver beaded fringe.

Strike Up the Band was inspired by George Gershwin's work of the same name.
Female costume consisting of a head piece, suit and train. The head piece is a straw basket filled with fruit on top of a pink pirate's scarf held in place with a gold diadem. The suit is a one piece pink bathing suit open in the front and decorated with silver grommets on the side of the bra. The train is made of many white ruffles edged in different colours. One ruffled upper armband is in the same style while the others are in multicoloured harlequin checks.

Female costume consisting of a head piece, waist piece and suit. The waist piece is the main part of a flower with the masquerader and the head piece forming the stamen. The waist piece is a large flower, fitted to the back of the masquerader in yellow, pink and orange with elongated petal tips edged with a large bead; the stamens are multicoloured small flowers attached to numerous long poles, emerging from the centre of the flower. The head piece is a gold helmet with a triangular mask that fits over the whole face. The suit is a one piece multicoloured, embossed bathing suit with a high neck and gold leaf like folds on each hip. A gold beaded fringe also hangs from each hip like a skirt. The costume is completed by the gold embossed arm, wrist and shinbands.

The loincloth is two-piece: a short, wide black loincloth lined in white over which a longer loincloth decorated in white and yellow is worn. The suit is a pair of white bathing trunks. The costume is completed by white armbands banded in gold and white roman sandals.

Title: Spider Girl

Cirque des Follies won Band of the Year in the 1997 carnival competition.
Berkeley: Cirque des Follies is a great mixture of costumes and situations, taken from the Follies Bergere and influenced by the 'Cirque du Soleil'. All the costumes are pure fantasy, and do not relate to any given place or time. It is more like a spectacle, a show of costumes, and in some way relates to jewelry.
Female costume consisting of an elobrately beaded suit and head piece. The head piece is a silver and blue spider's web attached to a silver beaded wig and with a long blue feather boa hanging off the back. The suit is a high necked silver one piece bathsuit with a narrow strip over the stomach joining the bra to the pants. There is a belt with large blue diamond shaped jewels worn over the pants the latter of which ends in a silver ball fringe. The masquerader wears a silver choker from which hang long strings of silver beads attached to one silver wristband and then to a blue jewelled wristband. The costume is finished with silver and blue upper armbands.

The body piece consists of a silver, blue and white circling galaxy with interspersed silver balls; also emerging from the galaxy are large silver and blue meteorites. The neck piece is a collar of upturned silver petals. The suit is a white beaded top with a black belt with petals and jewels and black tights. The costume is completed by the silver beaded wristbands and the boots.

The back piece is a spread tail of green and yellow emerging from a round white piece with small black spots. The cloak is a pair of bird's wings, yellow with white edges, purple feathers on the shoulders and a chest piece of oval purple pieces. The loincloth is made up of lilac petal shapes, with yellow and black borders, attached to a black belt. The suit is a yellow and green catsuit.

The train is made up of panels of petal shaped pieces, decorated with suns, moons and leaves. The suit is a catsuit worn under an elaborate robe in the same pattern as the train, with wide pagoda sleeves falling to the ground. The costume is completed by the peaked top, knee high boots.

On the over throw there is a design of three ships and two birds as represented on the Coat of Arms. On the head is a helmet with feathers to the top. In hand is the National Flag of Trinidad and Tobago.
8. CHINA - Male costume. Dominant colours are red, white and blue. The costume has white pants with with a wide neck piece that fills in as a top piece. The top piece has a blue and white circular design to one side and the other red drapes with a dragon on it. On the head is a chinese helmet. In hand is a white flag with a blue and white circular design in the middle.
9. MADAGASCAR - Male costume. Dominant colours are red, green and white. The costume has a red pants with pieces of fabric falling from the waist. There is a wide neck piece. The head piece consists of tall green leaves with a red bull to the middle. In hand is the National Flag of Madagascar.
10. JAPAN - Male costume. Dominant colours are yellow and red. The costume has a yellow pants with a red and yellow over throw. The over throw has a layered design. The head piece is a japanese hat. In hand is a red flag with a yellow circular design in the middle.

The suit is a silvery metallic bikini with a cone shaped bra with a fringe. The costume is completed by the knee high boots with metallic edges and similarly styled wristbands. The masquerader carries a torchlight which emits a pink light.

Title: Standard Bearer of Amarant

Amarant won Band of the Year in the 1998 carnival competition.
Amarant is the name of a flower reputed to have grown in a secret maze in the legendary city of Atlantis; made up of two dormant butterflies in the form of a flower, only lovers who touch the flower can bring the butterflies to life.
Male costume consisting of a standard, head piece, chestplate, loincloth, cape and suit. The standard is a black flag with the image of a goldfish and a gold plant bearing two blue flowers. The head piece is a gold laurel wreath. The cape is purple, lined in gold and attached to a patterned chest plate in blue and orange. The loincloth is blue and is attached to the chestplate. The suit appears to be yellow bathing trunks. The costume is completed by the purple armbands and the gold embossed greaves on the legs.

Male costume consisting of a standard, head piece and suit. The standard is a white shell on a pole. The head piece consists of three layered shells on a helmet: white, pink then white backed by several tall white spikes. The suit is a sequinned white tunic with a white and pink shell collar, a peaked and fringed hem with a pink border. The masquerader wears white tights under the tunic. The costume is completed by the white wristbands, one of which has ribbon fringe.

All sections in this band depict Berkeley's interpretation of an Independence Day fireworks display.
Female costume consisting of a head piece, standard and suit. The head piece is a gold helmet that frames the face, a starburst front and a crown of large blue feathers. The suit is a one piece bathing suit with a gold top and blue bottoms. An elaborate blue and gold belt with a gold fringe is worn over the suit. The standard is a long blue flag decorated with gold stars, topped with blue feathers and a spray of gold shooting stars. The costume is completed by the blue-banded gold arm and legbands.

Band made for St Maarten Carnival 1999.
Female costume consisting of a head piece, cape and suit. The head piece is in orange, blue, pink and white which is attached to a pink diadem. The cape and loincloth are both striped with a blue background and stars in blue, orange, pink and green. The suit is a pink bikini with a tank style top with a white fringe. The costume is completed by the pink shinbands.

Female costume consisting of a standard, head piece and suit. The standard has a yellow irregular hem like an umbrella and sits furled atop a white pole. The suit is a yellow two-piece bikini the pants of which have mini skirts in yellow and orange; the armbands are shaped exactly like the skirts. The yellow head piece sits on top of the crown and consists of two layers of triangular shaped peaks resembling a joker's hat. Gold, orange, black and white beads embellish the peaks.

Male costume consisting of a back piece and a hip piece. The masquerader is wearing green bathing trunks, arm, head and calf bands. The back piece and hip piece are both large starfishes in gold, studded with diamonds all over and set with large cabochon emeralds in the centre of each arm of the starfish. Strings of green beads connect the back piece to the hip piece. The head piece is a tight green helmet capped with a large emerald on the crown.

The loincloth is a silver crescent moon with a large black jewel at the top falling from a silver belt. The suit is a pair of blue bathing trunks. Title: Stars of the Ring

Female costume which consists of a head piece, cape and suit. The suit is a gold bikini with gold beads hanging from both the bra and the pants in a triangular pattern. The cape is a large tri-colour and tri-level form with an arc of gold stars on a blue background then layers of white and then red frills; it resembles the American flag. The head piece is a gold helmet the front of which rises in a peak and to which is attached red feathered boas which float around the sides and back of the masquerader. The helmet is topped off with gold, white and blue straight feathers. The costume is finished off with red armbands which are capped in white and gold roman-like sandals.

The costume is completed by the silver embossed greaves on the shins and the blue and silver armbands.

The head piece is a helmet with yellow flames in front of a blue circle and with a crown of pink and yellow feathers. The collar is blue, studded with white circles and a ragged blue and white hem. The loincloth is also a ragged blue fabric attached to a blue and silver belt, worn over bathing trunks. The costume is completed by the gold greaves on the shins, the gold shoes and the orange, red and yellow armbands from which hang long jagged fringe in the same colour.

The back piece is a gold sunburst with a pair of pointy wings, decorated with pink circles and gold and lilac teardrops; all the wings have gold tips. The chest and shoulder piece consists of a golden flower on a black circle held by straps over the shoulder and with a gold fringe strewn with multi-coloured flowers. The suit is a pink catsuit with a pair of dark pink pants over it. The costume is completed by the gold wristbands.

The collar is orange with yellow ovals and an attached chest piece in purple and orange with a centred yellow sun and an orange pompom at the end. The suit is a dress with a pink bodice, black and white patterned belt, yellow skirt with orange triangles at the hem and white fringe. The costume is completed by the wrist and shinbands: black and white with natural leather look lacings and pompoms.

Title: Sunrise in the Forest

The back piece represents an intermingling of gold and green leaves and sunbursts, which rise high above the masquerader's head. The head piece is a gold leaf helmet with large green leaves framing the back of the head and gold chains falling on either side of the face. The suit is a one piece yellow bathing suit with a decoration of small leaves down the front and around the legs; there is also a long yellow feather boa attached to the seat of the suit like a tail and carried over the arm. There is a long yellow train at the back. The costume is completed by the long yellow gloves decorated with a bead fringe and the knee high yellow boots that have a large leaf pattern at the knee.

The suit is a pair of gold and orange tights worn under an orange loincloth ended in a gold tassel and gold cummerbund. The masquerader wears a wide collar striped in orange, gold and black. The costume is completed by the striped gold, orange and black armbands and the knee high gold boots which have gold leggings crossed over them.

Male costume consisting of a head piece, back piece, waist piece and suit. The head piece is a red helmet with gold beaded spikes projecting around the crown. The back piece is a red setting sun in front of clouds of purple and gold and rays of golden sun behind them. The waist piece is a mass of clouds in purple, gold and red which surround the masquerader. The suit is a purple catsuit with a top decorated with gold sparkling sunbursts. The costume is completed by the wide topped gold beaded boots.

Male costume consisting of a head piece, collar with shoulder piece, body piece and suit. The head piece is an orange, gold and white beaded helmet with sun flares and long feathers. The shoulder piece is a collar of beaded orange sun flares from which emerge long orange and gold fronds, curving downwards. The body piece is a maze of spiky sunspots attached to the hips. The suit is a catsuit with an orange pattern, interspersed with pink and white beads. The costume is completed by the silvery wrist and armbands to which are suspended long stings of white pearls attached to the sunspot maze and the boots.

Title: Super Golden Earings

Band created for St Maarten carnival 1997.
Cirque des Follies won Band of the Year in the 1997 carnival competition.
Berkeley: Cirque des Follies is a great mixture of costumes and situations, taken from the Follies Bergere and influenced by the 'Cirque du Soleil'. All the costumes are pure fantasy, and do not relate to any given place or time. It is more like a spectacle, a show of costumes, and in some way relates to jewelry.
Female costume consisting of a back piece, head piece, train, and suit. The back piece is a purple feathered fan attached to a gold arch. The head piece is an elaborate gold wavy pair of earrings encrusted with purple jewels, worn over the ears, three large jewels on top on the crown and concluded with large lilac feathers. The suit is a backless one piece gold bathing suit with a purple triangular front insert, beaded between the breasts and under the waist. A multi-tiered purple, lilac and gold train is attached to the back of the costume which is finished by the purple armbands and gold greaves with a large blue jewel in the centre, on the shins.

Male and female costumes consisting of a standard, head piece and suits. The standard, carried by the male masquerader, is a version of the cobalt blue Swedish flag with gold lions and crowns. Both head pieces include a white flat topped cap with a red band and long black ribbon. The female suit has a yellow bikini bra worn with white bell bottom trousers with a blue insert that has yellow polka dots. A long red scarf is worn as a belt, tied in a large bow. The male costume has a cobalt blue sleeveless tee-shirt with a yellow crossed double sash print, the belt is red, worn over trousers exactly like the female's. The costumes are completed by the red, blue and gold wristbands.

Title: Sweet Bird of Youth

Amarant won Band of the Year in the 1998 carnival competition.
Amarant is the name of a flower reputed to have grown in a secret maze in the legendary city of Atlantis; made up of two dormant butterflies in the form of a flower, only lovers who touch the flower can bring the butterflies to life.
Female costume consisting of a head piece, arm piece and suit. The head and arm pieces work together to form the body of a bird. The arm pieces are multi-coloured wings in yellow, orange and purple covering the shoulders and arms. The head piece is a bird's crest, curved forward on a gold helmet and in the same colours. The suit is a one piece gold bathing suit with and embossed pattern and from which is thrust a long feathered tail. The costume is completed by ornate gold greaves worn on the shins.

The body piece consists of two cobalt blue, accordian shaped swirls which cross over the masquerader's body and which has strings of gold pearls suspended under it and in front of the body. The suit is a long sleeved, blue and gold sequinned body suit. The costume is completed by the blue beaded greaves on the shins

The head piece is a crowned black swan on a white helmet. The suit has a white sleeveless tank top worn with a pair of trousers broadly banded in grey, black and white. A grey sash with white fringe and edges is worn over the suit. The costume is completed by the black and white armbands, white socks and black shoes.

Description: 16. SYRIA - Male costume. Dominant colours are white, red, black, yellow and green. The costume has a white pants with an over throw. The over throw has a striped design on it and stars down the middle stripe. Also attached to the sides are yellow fabric that looks like wings. On the head is a soft fabric that is held on with a head band. In hand is the National Flag of Syria.
17. BRAZIL - Female costume. Dominant colours are green, yellow, blue and red. The costume has a blue soft fabric that forms an X across the chest. There is a red bikini bottom. From the back of the waist there is a layered fabric that falls into a trail. There are beads falling from the arms. On the head there is a star design where the middle of the star is a blue circle with little white stars in it. In hand is the National Flag of Brazil.
18. SWEDEN - Male costume. Dominant colours are yellow and blue. The costume has a yellow pants with a rectangular over throw. The over throw has the design on the National Flag on it. On te head is a wide hat. In hand is the National Flag of Sweden
19. ITALY - Male costume. Dominant colours are white, red and yellow. The costume has a white pants and around the waist pieces of fabric drop forming a skirt. There is a sash across the chest and around the neck os a gol design. From this design drapes fall to the back of the costume. On the head is a tall helmet. In hand is a red and white flag.
20. GERMANY - Male costume. Dominant colours are yellow, white, black and red. The costume has a yellow pants with a black and white designed over throw. On the head is a crown with wings shooting out. n hand is the national flag of Germany.
