Folk tales have been in existence for centuries. Their purpose was to teach moral and social values, as well explain events in nature, while simultaneously providing entertainment. They were handed down from generation to generation, through the oral tradition. Later, they were recorded in print format, and now in the technological age, they are being preserved in electronic format for posterity.
This collection of well-known folk tales seeks to preserve popular folk tales from Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana. It includes the book Indo-Trinidadian Folk Tales in the Oral Tradition compiled by Ashram B. Maharaj.
